According to the latest official report from Yunnan, on March 31, the Tianpeng-Shangpeng Port on the China-Vietnam border officially launched the two-way opening of the cross-border freight channel. During the first-day customs clearance operation, the two countries each dispatched two freight vehicles to complete the historic maiden voyage: A Chinese freight truck transporting 30 tons of cement drove towards the Shangpeng Port in Vietnam through the pre-inspection area, and the Vietnamese vehicle entered the operation area in China simultaneously, marking the official operation of this new land corridor connecting Yunnan and northern Vietnam.

The Golden Hub of the China-Vietnam Border
This border port, located in Tianpeng Town, Funing County, Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province, directly connects with the Shangpeng Port in Miao Wang County, Ha Giang Province, Vietnam in a straight line, forming a three-dimensional transportation network that radiates both countries. The Tianpeng Port is not only 65 kilometers away from the seat of Funing County, but also occupies a strategic position. It connects to the high-speed road network and the high-speed railway line to the north, and is only 35 kilometers away from the seat of Miao Wang County in Vietnam to the south, and 28 kilometers away from the core area of Dong Van County. It can be regarded as the golden hub of the China-Vietnam border.

Reconstructing the Regional Logistics Map
As an important gateway connecting Southeast Yunnan and the ASEAN, the opening of this port will reconstruct the regional logistics map. The opening of the new channel not only clears the connecting arteries of the “border inspection area-industrial park-urban agglomeration”, but also constructs a “one-hour cross-border transportation circle”, facilitating the efficient circulation of goods such as agricultural products and industrial products between the two countries.

Ensuring the Timeliness of Goods Transportation
It is worth noting that the Tianpeng Port adopts the intelligent customs clearance mode of the “pre-interception operation area”. Through the seamless connection of the inspection facilities of China and Vietnam, it realizes the rapid customs clearance of cross-border freight trucks with the mode of “inspection upon arrival”. This mode significantly improves the efficiency compared with the traditional border inspection, providing a strong guarantee for the transportation of time-sensitive goods such as fresh agricultural products.

The regular operation of the Tianpeng-Shangpeng Port not only strengthens the northward channel of the China-Indochina Peninsula Economic Corridor, but also complements the border railway under construction. It is believed that it will significantly increase the trade volume between Wenshan Prefecture and Vietnam in the future and inject new impetus into the economic integration of the border areas between Yunnan and Vietnam.
