Sea Freight Logistics
Sea freight, with its low cost and high volume, plays a crucial role in Cambodia’s international logistics. The country’s major ports, including Sihanoukville Port and Phnom Penh Port, have regular shipping routes to major ports around the world, meeting the large-scale cargo transport needs. In recent years, the Cambodian government has increased its investment in port infrastructure, enhancing the throughput capacity and service quality of its ports. Particularly, the launch of the new container terminal project at Sihanoukville Port will significantly lower logistics costs and improve Cambodia’s position in regional logistics.

Land Freight Logistics
Cambodia shares land borders with China, Thailand, and Vietnam, providing favorable conditions for land transport logistics. However, challenges such as outdated infrastructure, high transport costs, and limited freight speed still hinder the development of land logistics. To address these issues, the Cambodian government is accelerating the construction and upgrade of road infrastructure, particularly the transformation and expansion of the East-West Corridor and North-South Corridor, which will significantly improve the efficiency and convenience of land freight logistics. Additionally, the government is actively promoting the development of rail infrastructure and plans to connect neighboring countries by rail to create a more convenient and efficient land logistics network.

Air Freight Logistics
Air freight, known for its speed and efficiency, plays an important role in Cambodia’s international logistics. Cambodia’s international airports, including Phnom Penh International Airport and Sihanoukville International Airport, have regular flights to major cities worldwide, providing reliable air freight services. As Cambodia’s economy rapidly develops and international trade flourishes, the demand for air freight logistics continues to grow. To meet this demand, the Cambodian government is accelerating airport infrastructure construction and upgrades to increase airport capacity and service quality. Furthermore, Cambodia is actively promoting the development of air cargo and plans to connect neighboring countries through air freight, creating a more convenient and efficient air logistics network.

Inland Waterway Transport
Cambodia is home to numerous rivers and lakes, and inland waterway transport plays an important role in its logistics system. Particularly, the Mekong River, as a major inland waterway connecting Cambodia and Vietnam, plays a key role in regional trade. However, challenges such as insufficient river depth and limited infrastructure have hindered the development of inland waterway transport. To address these issues, the Cambodian government is accelerating the dredging and expansion of inland waterways to improve transport capacity and service quality. Additionally, Cambodia is actively promoting the construction of an inland waterway system, aiming to connect surrounding provinces and cities, creating a more convenient and efficient inland water transport network.

Logistics Center Development
As a key component of the logistics system, logistics centers are essential for improving logistics efficiency and service quality. The Cambodian government is accelerating the construction and upgrading of logistics centers, particularly in regions like Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. These logistics centers will provide functions such as warehousing, distribution, customs clearance, and border facilities, offering one-stop services for logistics companies. Additionally, Cambodia is actively promoting the digitalization of logistics, planning to introduce advanced logistics management systems and smart logistics equipment to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.
